Welcome to Nile Vocational Institute (NVI)
..offering skills training to vulnerable and non-vulnerable youth
Nile Vocational Institute (NVI) was once a dream by the Late Bishop Festo Kivengere to help a child in Uganda who was in most cases left behind to look after him/her self due to the then political turmoil in the nation and the now HIV/AIDS scourge. NVI was therefore established in 1988 by African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) together with a German organisation- Kindernothilfe (KNH) with a main aim of providing vocational skills for gainful employment (employed or self employed) to the vulnerable especially orphaned youths to enable them become self-reliant. NVI begun with only 41 students in 2 courses, that is, Bricklaying & Concrete Practice (BCP) and Carpentry & Joinery (CJ); however, today 9 courses exist in the two departments of Domestic Technology & Building Technology.

In the year 2000, the institute took up a social responsibility of training the communities by providing vocational skills and life skills knowledge through Community Based Training Programs (CBT) and for the next 6years (2007-2012) the main goal is to empower these communities to enable them improve their livelihood.
